Week 2 Assignment 3:

Critique on Sample Lesson Plan:       Carolyn Wilhelm's way of teaching and helping students with their reading, writing and thinking is incredible. She gives her students a book on their level that the students can listen to the text and develop their literacy. After reading the book, she tells the students to share their thoughts. This helps the students acquire more knowledge it also teaches the students communication skills and how to interact with each other. Supplying the children with visual aid is a real help for their understanding. I think, that this day in age technology should have been incorporated into the curriculum. It can help the lessons be more exciting and easier to understand. For the teachers it can also be a big help by using rubrics and assessment tools to help keep track of the students progress. By focusing individually on the students it can really help them grow in their full potential.

The Process of Becoming Literate:     The process of becoming literate is literacy, the ability to read and write. In order to function in our society it is essential to be literate. From the very start of children's lives we teach them how to be literate. As teachers we have an important responsibility to show and teach out students how to be literate.       Reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language are 5 components of literacy instruction. The process is divided in two. The first group is k-5, which teaches English Language Arts, and the second is 6-12 which is more advanced. We begin with reading, which helps us form an understanding of simple text into more complicating text. We continue with writing , which is the planning, revising, editing, publishing and communicating to our environment though our connection to reading. Next is speaking and listening.
